December 18, 1946 ~ October 21, 2023 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Shirley Culver Obituary

Shirley Williams Culver drew her last breath peacefully on October 21, 2023. She made her grand entrance into the world on December 18, 1946, and was the only child of Lee and Hazel Williams, whom she loved deeply. She was an only child in one sense, but she developed many deep relationships while growing up in Gary, Indiana, where she became like a sister to many friends and extended family throughout her life.

Shirley Williams became Shirley Culver in 1972 when she married Ronald, and they began their life journey together. The two of them moved from Indiana to Ohio and finally reached their family home in Austin, Texas, in 1976. To that home, they welcomed two babies, Roxanne in 1982 and Rashad in 1986. Shirley, as the matriarch of this portion of the Culver squad, parented with humor, grace, and the occasional sauciness that is necessary when parenting strong-willed children. Throughout the years, Shirley continued to adopt and take in many more "kids" as her large heart was never too full to love everyone she called friend or family.

Her family extended through her places of employment, including Texas School for the Blind, Texas School for the Deaf, The Texas Department of Information Resources, Family Forward, and HBMG while living and working in Austin, TX. From Payroll to Human Resources, she grew her craft and became a very knowledgeable and highly regarded professional in her field. Through her work, she was also a positive force who brought out the best potential in any and everyone she touched.

Needless to say, she was a social butterfly and brought life to any and every party she attended. It is without a doubt that she is dancing in heaven, in between card games and smack-talking with her loved ones who were waiting to receive her as she drew that last breath. Shirley Culver was an angel on Earth and has now gained her wings. Surely, they are sparkly and have a healthy amount of bling and color coordination to match her lively spirit.

Shirley was preceded in death by her Mother and Father, Hazel and Lee Williams. She is survived by her Husband Ronald, Children Roxanne, Rashad (Olivia), and Gina (Mark). Grandchildren: T.J., Addison, Isla, Zoe, and her grandson, due in February 2024. Her sister and caregiver, Beverly, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family, and friends.
