Ruby Barnett Obituary

Ruby Barnett Washington, a beloved mother, grandmother, and retired nurse, peacefully left this world at the age of 100 years old on January 20th 2024. She was born on August 19th, 1923, in Groesbeck, Texas, and her remarkable journey touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ruby's life was a testament to love, compassion, and service.

Ruby's legacy lives on through her four devoted grandchildren, Darrell Washington, Monica Mason, Israel Washington, and Michelle Washington. She was the matriarch of her family, fostering love, compassion, and strength among generations. Ruby is now reunited with her two beloved sons, Daniel J. Washington and Ira Carey, who preceded her in death.

A retired nurse, Ruby dedicated her life to caring for others. She found immense joy in bringing happiness to those around her by volunteering at the senior center where she shared her love for arts and crafts. Ruby's warm and caring nature made her a cherished member of the community, and she touched the hearts of many with her selfless acts of kindness.

Ruby's faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devoted church member, she found solace and purpose in her relationship with the Lord. Her unwavering faith was a source of strength for her and an inspiration to those fortunate enough to know her. Ruby actively shared the joy of her faith with others, spreading love and kindness wherever she went.

As a mother and grandmother, Ruby was the epitome of love and devotion. Her family was her greatest treasure, and she poured her heart into nurturing and guiding them through life's journey. The memories of her warm embrace, gentle wisdom, and unconditional love will forever linger in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to be a part of her family. Her wisdom, warmth, and laughter will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew her.

In celebrating Ruby's life, let us remember her for the joy she brought to others, the compassion she extended, and the love she shared. Though she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit lives on in the cherished memories of those who were touched by her presence. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the heavenly joy she brought to so many during her century-long journey.
