Roslyn Renee (Freeland) Stanton was born on August 20, 1957 in San Antonio, Texas, to John Thomas Freeland and Juanita Ross Holiday.
She began her christian journey when she was baptized into Christ, as a teenager, at West Laurel Street Church of Christ, under the leadership of Brother Nash. She and her family decided to move and make Austin, Texas their home, in 1978. Under the guidance of her mother, her family decided to place their membership at the Eastside Church of Christ, where she was a faithful member for over 30 years. She loved God, and she loved being around her brothers and sisters in Christ!
During her children’s elementary school years, she decided to work for the Austin Independent School District’s lunch program, just to be closer to her girls. Later, she began a long career as a Claims Processor for National Heritage Insurance Company’s (NHIC) Claims and Quality Control department.
Roslyn was a devoted mother to her three daughters. She loved spending time with her grandkids, as well as making memories with her siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends. Roslyn was very competitive, and an expert Dominoes and Spades player!
Roslyn was a loving family woman. She was a devoted Grandmother who cherished her grandchildren, and was extremely proud of all of their accomplishments. She had the voice of an angel and would recount fond memories of singing church hymns with her mother, sisters, and cousins. Listening to her sing was always a cherished family favorite.
Roslyn was preceded in death by John Thomas Freeland (father), Juanita Ross Holiday (mother), Virginia Lee Ross (sister), Tasha Phenique Freeland (sister), and Donnie Eugene Bailey (brother)
She is lovingly survived by her three daughters Kenya Williams ( Raymond), Tanda Maxwell (Bruce), and Tanashia Stanton; nine grandchildren, Bria Freeland, Daylon Favors, Daymond Williams, Jaden Williams, Jade Maxwell, Chyna Maxwell, Ocean Maxwell, Rayne Maxwell, and Breeze Maxwell; sisters, Vickey Lamkin, Maud Ester Kelly, Nyoka Davis, and Tanoa Hawthorne; brother, Michael Freeland. She is also survived by twenty one nieces and nephews, and a host of great nieces and nephews who all love her dearly.
