Robert (Peter Rabbit) Bell

Robert "Peter Rabbit" Bell, 79, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. Robert was born on September 10, 1943 in their family home on Buchanan Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to the proud parents Earnest Bell Sr. and Abby Bell. He grew up in a large family was the sixth child of sixteen children.

Growing up Robert attended McKinley High School in Baton Rouge, LA. He worked hard to support his family and stayed busy working as a head custodian for the City of Austin, Travis County, Texas National Guard, Austin ISD, Del Valle ISD, Bastrop ISD and Pflugerville ISD. He was the the true definition of a hard worker, led by example and instilled that same same work ethic in his children. Robert was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church under Reverend George Clark.

Anyone that knew Robert knew that you could find him on the weekends surrounded by laughter with his family and watching a good ol' Western.

He leaves behind many to cherish his memory: his wife of 57 years, Willa J. Bell of Austin, TX; his children: Chaundra Bell and Vernon Bell of Dolton, Illinois, Rosland Bell of Austin, TX and Chuckiey Bell of Round Rock, TX. Robert is survived by his five siblings: Melvin Bell of Austin, TX; Glenn Bell of Baton Rouge, LA; Irma Lee Bell, Jerry Bell and Roy Bell of Gonzales, LA; Jerry Bell of Atlanta, GA. He was also a proud grandpa to L'Ronica Hill of Austin, TX., Cornelius Neal of Raleigh, NC; D'Vonte Bell of Baton Rouge, LA, TyReasa Bell of Austin, TX and Robert Johns of Round Rock, TX. Robert was blessed to have five great grandchildren: Jah'Dae Lewis, Robert Thompson, Amethyst Robinson, Mihey'Liha Lews and Apricity Lewis.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents Earnest Bell Sr. and Abby Bell; his siblings Earnest Bell Jr., Emmanual Bell, Felton Bell, Lester Bell, Willie Mae Landry, Ethel Mae Anderson, Joyce Marie Jacques, Barbara Jean Lomas and Beulah Louise.
