Obituary

Pearlie Caldwell Reed was born on February 25, 1935 to the late Alfred and Vera Mae Caldwell.

Pearlie attended Del Valle public schools. She graduated from the old L. C. Anderson High School in the Austin public schools. She attended Del Valle Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of Reverend Henry Hill.  She later joined David Chapel Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend James Obey.

Pearlie relocated to the Dallas/Fort Worth area where she married David W. “Veto” Reed. She joined St.  Phillips Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend T. J. Phillips.  She later returned to Austin and joined St. James Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Reverend E. M. Franklin and presently Reverend B. W. McClendon, Sr., where she was active in the Mass Choir, Women’s Chorus, Mission I and St. John Regular District Association Mission I Department  until her health failed.

Pearlie departed her earthly home on March 15, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Lorenzo Caldwell, Eugene Caldwell, Marjorie Caldwell, and her twin, Early Caldwell, Sr.  She is also survived by her nephews Patrick L. Caldwell, Jeffrey Caldwell (Anna), godchild Rhonda Michelle Whitley-Jackson, her special cousins Mildred Byrd and Debra Weathers, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
