A life Well Lived and A Life Well Loved

Oscar James Edwards III, also known as Little OJ or Little Bubba by his family and close friends was born on January 4, 1986, in Austin, Texas to Oscar Edwards, Jr., also known as Big Bubba and the late Ora Nell Thompson.

OJ, baptized at Christ Memorial Church, when he was ten, joined Mount Sinai issionary Baptist Church on March 24, 1996. He spent his final days with his father in Austin where they talked every day and shared time with family and friends. It was in those times that he and his dad would fellowship as they shared morning bible study together. OJ enjoyed life and loved his family in every way especially his daughter Precious.

OJ had a lifelong love of writing poetry and short stories. He often shared his writing with friends and family for them to read. He would always follow up to see if that piece should be in his book. His last short story was texted on Jan 1, 2022. An excerpt about one of his characters, who meets his grandson for the first time reads: “When Madiba first laid eyes on Rackso, he knew there was something special about him and after that day things in his life will never be the same again.” A friend who received his text, stated, based on the storyline, he was writing about the moment, he believes his dad first saw him. Big Bubba and Little Bubba were not only identical in looks they were identical in their love for each other.

Loved ones who preceded Oscar in death are his mother Ora Nell Thompson, grandfather, Oscar James Edwards Sr., grandmothers, Ora Lee Thompson, and Lucy Bell Edwards. His legacy will live on through memories and stories from his daughter Precious Tishay Barnes, father Oscar James Edwards Jr. (Cindy), brothers Antoine and Robert Thompson, and Charles Johnson (Monisha), sisters Mia and Yvetta Johnson, and Renee Thompson. His aunts, Yvonne Thompson, Elaine Thompson, Janice Edwards, Gloria Moore, Patricia Franklin (Charles), and
Carolyn Wright (Jerry), and uncles, Sonny Thompson and Larry Thompson, Darrell Edwards, and Fred Edwards (Cassandra) and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him as well.
