Nelwynne Joyce Roland, affectionately known as "Boomie", was born Monday March 10, 1958, to John Henry Roland, Sr., and Doris Ray Talley Roland in Austin, Texas. Boomie was the third child born to John and Doris, and sibling to John Henry Roland, Jr., and Bertha Delorce Roland.
Boomie loved and was blessed with two children: daughter Germonica Roland, and son Levar Roland.
Boomie was preceded in death by her parents John and Doris Roland, her grandparents Edmonia McKnight, and Madison Talley, and Genetta and Charlie Roland.
Boomie attended Austin Public Schools, in Austin, Texas, and met all educational requirements for her General Education Development (GED) Diploma. While in Junior High School, Boomie enjoyed playing the clarinet in the Kealing Junior High School Band.
Boomie began her spiritual journey with Christ at an early age at Memorial Baptist Church, Austin, Texas, under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. M. P. Swisher. As an adult, Boomie joined Greater Love Baptist under the leadership of Rev. Marlin Carter, and Rev. Isaac Grant.
As a child Boomie loved to sing with her sister Bertha, and seven other young ladies in a group called: "The Gospel Pearls". The Gospel Pearls song at various churches in and around the city of Austin.
Boomie retired from Austin State School after 25 years of service. Boomie loved life, loved to laugh, and loved to be with family and friends. Boomie loved spending time with her grandkids: Cordele Hopes, Cormesha Hopes, Cordeja Hopes, Michael Clark, Bryceson Reese, Levar Roland, Jr. Princess Roland, and Varsity Roland and her two great-grandkids: Sariah Hopes and Aniyah Hopes.
Boomie enjoyed seeing and spending time with her niece and name's sake: Nelwynne Joyce Roland Thomas II. She also loved seeing and spending time with her nephews: Donald and Donavon Williams, Jared Roland, and niece Lori Hall.
Boomie enjoyed spending time with all her close special friends. She will be missed by many.
Boomie leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Germonica Roland, and son Levar Roland (Vannie) of Austin, Texas. Brother: John Henry Roland, Jr. (Sharon) of Buda, Texas, one Sister: Bertha Delorce Roland, of Manor, Texas, and one Uncle Don Talley (Ann) of Carson, California. A host of grandkids, nieces, nephews, and other family members and special friends.
