Employment: First black to be hired in Texas, at Sperry and Hutchinson. (S & H Green Stamps)
Austin Independent School District - first to implement the Head Start Program and East Austin Economic Development
Mary was a devoted and active member of Ebenezer Third Baptist Church. Serving in many capacities.
Her survivors include her daughters, Willie Odems (Demosesneeds), Cynthia E. H. Mays, Tracie A. Miller and son, Douglas W. Hurst.
