Lucile Moore Vaughen was the third of six children born to Lushin Moore, Sr. and Katherine Billingsley on July 6, 1931 in Creedmoor, Texas.
She professed a hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age. Lucile was a lifelong, active member of St. Paul Primitive Baptist Church in Austin, Texas.
Ms. Vaughen attended Austin public schools, graduating from the Original L.C. Anderson High School in 1950. She also studied cosmetology, earning a certificate from The Crescent Institute School of Beauty Culture in 1952. Lucile worked occupations in St. Louis, MO and Austin, TX. She retired from Child, Inc. after many years of service.
Although Lucile had no children of her own, she helped raise, nurture, and support many of her nieces and nephews. For this reason, Aunt Billie, as she was known, was loved and revered by them all.
She leaves to mourn her passing one sister, Mary Louise Carroll and one son-in-law, Lemuel Carroll, Sr., both of Austin, Texas and a host of other relatives and friends.
