Leila Nell Hayes

Leila Nell Hayes passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at home, while surrounded by her devoted family.
Leila was born on September 12, 1958 to the late Willie and Lucille Hayes, the third born, as a twin. She graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1976 and attended Austin Community College Austin, Texas.
Leila was a member of Grant AME Worship Center, since birth, where she accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of the Choir, Women’s Missionary Society and the Usher Board and worked with the youth choir, as well as, serving as a Steward under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Leo Griffin.
Professionally, Leila worked at Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for 39 years until her death.
Leila leaves to celebrate her memories: two dedicated and loving sisters Linda K. Hayes and Sheila Hayes-Matlock.; three nephews Thomas Matlock, Jr., Byron (BJ) Maxwell, Jr.; and
Samiyon Demiuchest. She also leaves: a cousin raised like a sister Maude Crayton, San Antonio, Texas; her aunts, Betty Fuller, Austin, Texas, Vertie Mae Daniels and Charles Etta Hodge, Houston, Texas, and Inell Leonard, Los Angeles, CA; a host of special cousins and many dear friends.
