THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION AND UNDERSTANDING
On Sunday, September 6, 2020 God sent his angels to bring his daughter Janisha Renee Gabriel home.
Janisha was born on October 15, 1980 to Leonard Oswald Gabriel and Flominda Mercer-Gabriel.
Janisha accepted Christ at age eight and was baptized by the late Marvin C. Griffin at Ebenezer 3rd Baptist Church.
Janisha grew up in Austin, Texas and graduated from Round Rock High School. She received her Bachelors Degree from Howard University, and received a Masters Degree in Old Testament studies from Alliance Theological Seminary Nyack College.
Janisha was an artist, designer, theologian, and strategist among many other things. A life-long activist and organizer, she has been involved in numerous social justice initiatives, centering on efforts to advance Black liberation, gender justice, and LGBTQIA equality. As a founding member of the Black Lives Matter Global Network, Janisha provided the organization with communications and technology support through website design and strategy consulting. Though no longer a member of BLM, she continued to organize internationally around issues impacting people of African descent.
She is survived by her parents Leonard Oswald Gabriel and Flominda Mercer-Gabriel, her beloved chihuahua Goldie, and a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins who love her dearly.
The family thanks you for your love and your continued prayers.
