Hughie Lesper Shaw, Sr. was born on January 06, 1933 to Estella Hutchins Shaw and Lawrence Brown, Sr. He attended Del Valle School in Del Valle, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age at the Del Valle Missionary Church and was baptized under the leadership of Rev. E.B. Hill. Hughie later joined the Rehoboth Baptist Church where he served on the Usher Board.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Ruby Taylor on May 10, 1952 and of this union were born six children; Charles Wayne, Lewis Steve, Hughie, Jr., William Carl, Samuel Roger, Robbie Lennett and Godson Edward.
Hughie had a great career as a professional truck driver, retiring from Texas Ready Mix and Lauren Concrete. He also drove tractor trailer for Superior Dairy. Hughie was known for his sharp appearance and witty demeanor while he bartended and managed multiple bars, lounges and cafes he owned over the years. Hughie built his house in Manor, Texas where he raised 3 generations of Shaw’s and it’s still the homestead of today. After retirement, his hobby was working on John Deere tractors to pass the time.
Hughie was preceded in death by his mother Estella Hutchins Shaw, father Lawrence Brown, Sr., and brothers: James Shaw, Lewis Willie Shaw, Samuel Shaw, Lawrence Brown, Jr., sisters: Gracie Turner and Daisy Moten.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 70 years Ruby Shaw, sister Alta Lee Barnes, brother Audrie Lee Shaw, sister: Lois Bell (Wayne), Tricia Thomas, Beverly Mayberry, Icy Brown, Sharon Medlock, children: Charles Wayne Shaw, Lewis Steve Shaw (Gwen), Hughie L. Shaw, Jr. (Karen), William Carl Shaw (Gracie), Samuel Roger Shaw, Robbie Lennett Thomas, Edward Rogers (Ruth), 16 Grandchildren, 41 Great Grandchildren, nieces nephews, relatives and friends.
