Geraldine Louise Taylor was born to William and Lafla Johnson on March 16, 1934. She attended Austin public schools and graduated from L.C. Anderson High School, where she enjoyed being on the majorette team.
She accepted Christ at an early age, and later became a member of Evergreen, Church of God and Christ, where she taught Sunday School.
Shortly after high school, Geraldine married Calvin Taylor of Conehatta, Mississippi, and thereafter relocated to Chicago, Illinois. In Chicago, worked at the United States Post Office. After a while, she moved back to Austin, Texas, to be near her family and raise her children.
Geraldine had a love for writing. She entered a manuscript she had written into a Reader's Digest writing contest and won a prize.
She was a quiet, caring woman, always willing to help others. Her humor and playfulness brought joy to many hearts. She surrounded herself with her children and
grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. And, with her devotion to God,she never wavered in her determination to get herself and her children through life’s struggles,
challenges, and changes.
She was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Johnson and Lafla Dawson; Son, Calvin Ernest Taylor, and
daughters, Karen Denise Robinson and Winnie Louise Flowers; Her brothers, William Johnson, Alfred Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Michael Johnson, and sisters, Annette Henderson, Mary Henson, and Patsy Pullin.
She leaves to cherish her memories, children Dennis Ray Taylor (Marilyn), Allayne Yvonne Perkins (Arie), Adrianne Lafla Jackson(Wesley), Kenneth Andre Taylor, Trisha Lynette Redd (Dexter), Beverly Lynn Taylor; Sisters Beverly Johnson, Cloma Allen (Jimmy), and brother, Ronnie Dawson (Mary); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
