In the early morning of July 27, 2020, Florence Lee, peacefully departed this life. Although she fought through many illnesses over the years, she went to be with the Lord quietly in her sleep.

Florence was born on February 7, 1932 in Del Valle, Texas She was blessed to have four parents: Lola Bell McDonald and General Samuel Watkins (Lena), and Step-father Cell McDonald. She went to LC Anderson High School and went on to work for Holy Cross Hospital for 17 years until her retirement. She was also a member of the Royalette Social Club for 20 years.

She accepted Christ early and attended Willie Chapel Baptist Church, and later Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where she served as an Usher and Mission II. As she settled in retirement, she discovered a love for ceramic making, and created beautiful pieces of art! She often gave them away, and many can be found in relative’s and friend’s homes, with the signature “FLO-LEE” at the bottom.

She spent the greater part of her life giving and nurturing her relatives, children and grandchildren. She was known for cooking chocolate cakes, pecan & sweet potato pies, enchiladas, and homemade pizza for birthdays, & holidays. She welcomed her home to all, until the end. She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a devoted woman of God. Her Christian life was uniquely provided lasting memories to those she loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, & sisters.  She leaves to cherish her memory, children George Watkins (Carolyn), Marvin Clayborne, Patricia Reed (Ray), Deborah Atkinson (William). Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her 17 Grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 20 great great-grandchildren.
