Ernest Wallace was the first child of six children born to the late Aaron Wallace and Virginia Clark Wallacein Austin, Texas, on November 6, 1945. Ernest professed a hope Christ at an early age at Mount Calvary Baptist Church where hewas baptized by the late Reverend S. L. Davis. In May of 2017 Ernest united with Unity Hill Missionary Baptist Church, ( Pastor Emeritus Arvy Crayton) where Ernest was known as a faithful member.
Ernest attended Austin ISD public schools and graduated from L. C. Anderson High School in 1963. He married Berdie Jean Hobbs, December 31, 1963. To this union one daughter was born, Dorthea Ann (Dottie) Wallace – Henley.
Ernest and Berdie Jean moved to her hometown of Victoria, Texas where he served the community of Victoria, Texas as a fireman for a number of years before moving back to Austin, Texas in 1994. Upon his return to Austin, Texas he worked for the Austin Independent School District where he retired after eighteen years of service.
Ernest was known to be a humble man who loved God. He often shared with his family that God is with him and how God has brought him a long way from what he used to be. Ernest, shared with us how God had changed his life. He loved going to Sunday School. And he loved his Pastor, and everyone at Unity Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Ernest had a big heart for hisfamily.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Aaron Wallace; two sisters Katie Wallace Overton and Patricia Wallace; and a niece Traniece Nash.
Ernest leaves to cherish his precious memories his devoted daughter and son – in – law, Dorthea Ann Wallace Henley and Allison Henley; two sisters Eva Wallace Fennell (Robert - deceased) and Carolyn Wallace Carter (Central – deceased); one granddaughter Alexia Henley; six nieces; six nephews; nine great-nieces; three great – nephews; a host of cousins; other relatives; many friends and a special friend Mary Washington.
