Specialist, Curtis Melvin McVade Sr., 75, of Austin, TX passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 12, 2023, surrounded by family and loved ones. Curtis was a decorated US Army Veteran who served in the Vietnam war and spent several years in the reserves after active duty. Curtis was proudly awarded the Vietnam Service Medal w/four Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal Sharpshooter (Rifle).
Curtis was born to Ike McVade and Helen Carter on May 2, 1947, in Lockhart, TX. He accepted Christ at a very young age and faithfully was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Austin, TX for most of his adult life. Throughout his entire life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him with his very last breath.
Curtis joins his parents, Ike McVade and Helen Carter, his brother, Don and his son-in-law, Keith Robinson, in Heaven. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, his sister, Orbrianeice Daniels (Earnest), his brothers, Jimmy Carter, and Alton Carter (Tammy), his children, Dequita Brisco (Karl), Curtis McVade Jr. (Tasha), Andrea Robinson, Aaron Watters, Angel McVade, Brandon MeVade, and bonus daughter Keira "little mama" Goodman-Jones, 16 grandchildren and a host of step grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
We request all of Curtis's loved ones and friends to join us in celebrating his beautiful life at Mt.Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church at 644 State Highway 21 W, Cedar Creek, TX on Saturday, April 1st at 11 a.m. The interment will occur at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, TX at a later date.
Now that Curtis has run into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Curtis's physical life on Earth, it's the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for him.
