Booker T. Gilbert Jr.

On Saturday, May 10, 1947, the Lord blessed Booker T. Gilbert Sr. and Mable B. McNeil with their oldest of 11, their first baby boy who they named Booker T. Gilbert Jr.

Booker accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at, Macedonia Baptist Mission of Carrizo Springs, Texas and was a graduate of Carrizo Springs High School in 1967. Shortly after graduation, he went on to enlist in the US Military where he served from 1967-1988 with the US Army and US Guardsman Reserve where he was awarded a National Defense Service Medal and SS M14 Badge. In the early 70’s he relocated and planted his roots in Austin, Texas where he added three beautiful children to his union – Kristina, Kadrienne and Booker T. III (Trey).

While in Austin, Booker continued his education at Austin Community College where he applied this and skills from the military while working in various inventory control roles with The City of Austin, Abbott Laboratories, U.S Property and Fiscal Office, Texas Parks and Wildlife and most recently with the maintenance team with Priess at Cabana Beach in San Marcos Tx.

Over the past several years, Booker found himself residing in San Marcos Tx where he and his wife Sheila, found comfort and community, especially at First Baptist Church NBC. It was here where Booker rediscovered God’s calling on his life, where much like his father Booker Sr., Booker Jr served as a faithful Deacon. Booker enjoyed playing softball, fishing, playing dominoes, barbequing, watching his beloved Rangers, Cowboys and Longhorns, but above all else, spending time with family.

On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, Booker Gilbert Jr. answered the call from the Lord to come home. He was preceded in death by his Father: Booker T. Gilbert Sr., Brother’s: Archie Lee Gilbert, and Eugene Gilbert, Sister: Dorothy V. Gilbert, Son -n- Law: Clendon “Domonic” White. He leaves to cherish his memories and legacy: His Wife: Shelia Tennon-Gilbert, Children: Kristina White (Dominic) of Dale TX., Kadrienne Dupree (Mark) of Georgetown, TX., and Booker T. Gilbert III

(Natalie) of Round Rock TX. Grandchildren: Tayjon, Jalen, Dylan, Mark Jr, Kaden, Marley, and Greyson. Sisters: Mary L. Herndon, Carmen J. Gilbert, Janet Richardson, Janice Gilbert, Frances K. Garcia, Brothers: Herbert W. Gilbert, Travis G. Gilbert and a host of family and friends.
