Andrew Leslie Wheeler, son of Leslie Raymond Wheeler and Sheila Ann Wheeler (née Churchouse), beloved
husband of Emily Ann Wheeler (née Zitzler), survived by his sister Rebecca Ann Lanfear (née Wheeler) and his
cherished cat Widget, a true tortie, his anchor, died at home of natural causes on January 2, 2023, in Cedar Park,
Texas. Andrew was born on May 5, 1962, in Bath, United Kingdom.
After a whirlwind romance, Andrew married Emily on April 3, 1990, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. He emigrated to the
United States to be with Emily on September 5, 1990, and he became a proud U.S. citizen in August, 2015.
Andrew had a wide range of interests. His passions included firstly Emily and their furry companions, Thor and
Widget, followed by motorcycles, photography, music, and cooking for his friends. Andrew often traveled
Anthony Bourdain-style, embracing new cultures and cuisines and always making friends along the way.
Described as “uniquely himself,” Andrew was charming, compassionate, empathetic, and playful. He was a
humanist, a feminist, and a believer that if you could dream it, you could do it. He shared his time and joy for life
freely with loved ones and strangers alike.
Andrew’s kind, generous personality and extraordinary work as a motorsports photographer resulted in an
international network of professionals that became his extended family. When news broke of Andrew’s passing,
messages of admiration and sadness poured in from around the world.
Even those who met Andrew only once recalled the deep, heartfelt sincerity of his amazing bear hugs. We
remain as much within his warm embrace as he remains in ours. May we find comfort knowing that Andrew is
reunited with his beloved Emily.
