Mr. Alvin (HIP) Jerry Harris was born December 22, 1941 in Austin, Texas to the late James and Lorine Harris. He accepted Christ at an early age and united with Good Hope Baptist Church under leadership of the late Reverend Robert Williams. On October 14, 2014 he united with the Friendly Will Baptist Church where he served faithfully until his health declined. He looked forward to attending bible study every week. Alvin’s favorite saying was, no one could be any nicer to him, than he could be to them. He had a great sense of humor and a gift for telling jokes that kept everyone laughing.
Mr. Harris was united in marriage to Marilyn Harris, and they were blessed with three children.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Shirley Ann Reed.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Marilyn Harris; daughter Monica Farrow Harris; two sons, Kelvin Harris of Austin, and Byron Harris of Houston, Texas; two grandchildren, Dylan Farrow of Dallas, Texas and Bre’una Farrow of Buda, Texas; two sisters, Dorothy Brown of Austin, Texas and Barbara McCoy (Doc) of Warner Robbins, Georgia; one brother, James Harris (Pat) of California and a host of relatives and friends.
