York Freeman Gibson, III the oldest of two children was born September 26, 1946 in Austin TX to the late York F. Gibson, Jr. and Virginia Lott Lewis. York departed this life on December 28, 2018.
York attended the Blind, Deaf and Orphan school because of his hearing loss for several years. After being exited from DB&O York attended public school and later graduated from L.C. Anderson High School in 1968.
York worked on several jobs before working for the Austin Independent School District as a custodian. He worked 24 years for the Austin Independent School District before retiring in 2004.
York was a devoted Christian, usher and lifetime member of Wesley United Methodist Church before becoming ill in 2008. He loved the Lord. Even though York was somewhat of a loner he was a kind and loving person. To know York was to love York. York was opinionated, very open and honest in his expressions and frankness. He would often ask you things or tell you things about yourself that you really might not want to hear but that was York. York enjoyed getting around Austin whether it was by walking or riding the bus. A person could be anywhere in Austin and look up and see York.
York is loved by family and friends and he will be missed dearly. York leaves to celebrate his life a loving sister Darrelyn Biddle of California, nephew Ryan Biddle, niece Dere’ Biddle both of California and numerous cousins and friends.
