Sidney Morris, Jr. passed peacefully from this life on the evening of Thursday, March 8, 2018 after a gradual decline in his health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family during the last days of his life. Sidney was born in Austin, Texas on March 29, 1929 to Sidney Morris, Sr. and Hattie Jane Meeks Morris.
Sidney gave his life to the Lord at an early age while attending Center Union Baptist Church. He and his family joined Zion Rest Missionary Baptist Church in 1969, where he was a member and Deacon until his passing.
To his union with Ola Mae Slaughter Morris, Sidney is survived by his five children: Shirley Collins, Hattie Morris Hadley (Michael Hadley), Mary Curtis, James Morris, and Earnest Morris; ten grandchildren: Gayla Banks, Nicole Banks Baker (Isaac Baker), Charles Morris, Patricia Curtis, James Harris, Jr., Dante Harris, Melody Rutherford, Kay Labee (Mark Labee), Gina M. Glasper, Alexis Evans (Marcus Evans). Sidney is also survived by his four brothers: James Morris, Sr. (Katie Lee Morris), Fred Morris, Sr. (Tommie Morris), and Nathaniel Morris, Sr. (Terri Morris); three sisters: Bertha Hill, Esta Mae Houston, and Annie Martinez; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sidney was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Morris; brothers, Lesley Morris, Willie Morris, and Johnny Morris, Sr.; his sister, Alline Morris; and his grandson, James Lee Morris
