Paul (Ines) Herbert Brooks

August 12, 1945 ~ March 17, 2018 (age 72)

Paul (Ines) Herbert Brooks was born in Austin, Texas, August 12, 1945 to Wesley McGowan and Eunice Brooks, both of whom preceded him in death.

Paul was baptized at the St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church of Austin, Texas.  Paul married Janice Henricks, the love of his life on October 21, 1969, at which time they  moved to San Francisco, California.  Paul and Janice remained married for 48 years.  To this union was born one son, JaPaul Herbert Brooks.  In December 2013, after almost 45 years in California, Paul and Janice returned to Austin, Texas to make their home.

Pau worked for the Emporium while residing in San Francisco.  He latr became an entrepreneur and opened his business known as "The Lion's Den" and indicatin of his status as a Leo, of which he was very proud.  If you know Paul, you will know that wherever he was he made lifelong friendships which he continued to maintain until his transition.  Paul is also well known for his love of dominoes and cards in which he rarely lost a hand.

Paul is survived by his loving wife Janice of Austin; two sons JaPaul Brooks (Genea) of San Francisco, California and Rodney Dukes of Austin; one daughter Denise Banks of Austin, Texas.  He also leaves to cherish his memory several grandchildren: Pvt. Taraja Brooks (Makala) of Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas, Tiana Brooks of Walnut Creek, California, Tariah and Tareq Gonzales of Sacramento, California; one goddaughter Tarina Brown (Ronald) of Rialto, California and one godson Minister DaRell Davis (Brittani) of Houston, Texas.  He also leaves three brothers Donald Brooks, Sr. (Anita), William Brooks and Sylvester McCarther, all of Austin, Texas; five sisters Adele Daniels (Otis), Erma Johnson (Jimmy), Carolyn Brooks all of Austin, Patricia Harrell (Louis) and April Brooks of Atlanta, Georgia; in-laws that loved him unconditionally, Linda Johnson of Sacramento, California,  Everett Jay Henricks (Donna) of Austin, Texas, Crystal Brown (Clifton) of Austin, Texas, Leslie Hendricks of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Vanessa Watts (Aaron) of Converse, Texas and Donna Dobbs (Aaron) of Dallas, Texas.  Paul also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family memvers who love and adore him.  They will remember his with fond memories and much love.
