Otencia "T-Baby" (Durst) Davidson

September 27, 1929 ~ May 8, 2018 (age 88)

Otencia Durst Davidson took leave for her eternal rest on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in Austin, Texas at St. David’s Hospital.   She was born on September 27, 1929 in Austin, Texas and was the second child of Arthur Durst, Sr. and Bessie Durst Barrow.

As a young child, Ms. Davidson was affectionately nicknamed “T- Baby” by her father.  and her mother gave her the nickname “Dollie” when she was a high school student and both names stuck!   She received her education in the Austin Public Schools, attended the Original L. C. Anderson High School and Huston-Tillotson College.

She began her working career with her first job at T. H. Williams Junior Department Store on Congress Avenue.  She later worked for Tracor, Inc. in an administrative capacity for the security records management section, payroll, and the departmental copy center.  She retired from Tracor, Inc. after 27 years of service.

Otencia loved checking on friends, family, and the sick and shut-in, playing all kinds of card and board games, and entertaining friends.   She enjoyed keeping up with the events of the community and was an active member of The Grant Park Subdivision Neighborhood Association and also a member of The Cosmopolite Society Club.

Her church affiliation was with Wesley United Methodist Church in Austin, Texas where she grew up as a child and served on the Usher Board.

Otencia has been preceded in death by her husband John Eddie Davidson, Mother Bessie Durst Barrow, and Father Arthur Durst, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory; sister Petrinella M. Alexander (San Mateo, California), brother Arthur Durst, Jr. (Denver, Colorado), two daughters: Helen S. Priestley (Albert), Petrinella D. Wright, grandchildren:  Jewdon C. Priestley, A’shia M. Davidson, A’mour C. Davidson, John E. Wright, great grandchildren: Alrick Wormly, Alden Wormly, Camari Glenn, Mason Davidson, Liam Wormly, and Charleston Rabb, and a host of relatives and friends.
