Mrs. Ora Lee Wilson was born on July 13, 1937 to Marquerite Baker and Reverend Van M. Brown in Austin, Texas. Ora received her formal education from L. C. Anderson High School, Huston-Tillotson University and Prairie View A and M University.
Sister Ora accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior. She attended Mount Zion Baptist Church where she served as a faithful member who truly loved the Lord. When her health declined she continued to serve Him in her home with friends and family.
Sister Ora was employed at Huston-Tillotson University, where she served dutifully for forty-one years before retiring in 2010. In her leisure, she enjoyed singing in the church choir, serving as the finance secretary and attending weekly missionary meetings. It was with humble joy and delight as Sister Ora served on the church’s building committee which provided Mount Zion Baptist Church with a new building for God’s children. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Ora selflessly volunteered her time and services to her church, civic and healthcare organizations.
Ora was a boastful and devoted grandmother who proudly assumed the honorable name “Meme”. Ora was truly desired and loved by her grandchildren whom she provided loving care, spiritual guidance, and material comforts.
