Melba Baker was born June 29, 1954 in Round Rock, Texas to Rosie Baker and Elroy Baker, Sr. She was raised in a Christian home and attended Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church.
She was educated in the Austin Public Schools at Oak Springs and Rosewood Elementary and graduated from McCallum High School. She was employed at the Austin State Hospital for 10 years.
Melba was married to Theodore Roach and had one son, Cedrick Baker, Sr. who she raised by herself.
Melba departed this life on December 22, 2018. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rita Robinson and Clara Baker and her son Cedrick Baker, Sr., whom she loved very much.
She leaves to cherish her memory her mother Rosie Baker and father Elroy Baker, Sr.; two brothers, Archie Baker and Elroy Baker, Jr.; four nephews, Roderick Armstrong, Quenton Baker, Woody Robinson, and Andre Fifer; one niece Keisha Armstrong; great nephews and great nieces; three grandchildren, Cedric Baker, Jr. (she raised as her own son from birth), Anissa Jones, Dareyon Baker; five great grandchildren, Cedric Baker III, Lyric Olivia Baker, Zion Baker, Dareyon Baker, Jr. and Darius Baker.
