Ms. Maudie Jones was born in Austin, Texas to Tilman and Katie Hodge. The second child born on November 17, 1952. Both parents preceded her in death, as well as her two grandchildren Tommy D. Baker and Raven M. Cooks.
She accepted Christ at an early and was a faithful member at Cottonwood Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Detoneal Cook until her health failed. She graduated from Del Valle High School in 1971 as a Grand Valedictorian. She attended Nixon Business College and graduated with honors. She was employed with the City of Austin for many years, then she went to the State of Texas. Her final journey was with the U.S. Postal Services where she made numerous friends and was a dedicated employee.
Her past time was playing dominoes in Del Valle with all of her friends calling NEXT!!! She cherished her time with her family and friends. Maudie loved family reunions and loved to travel.
In her marriage to Larry D. Jones, two children were born.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her dear daughter Tonya Jones and son Lerrion Jones, both of Pflugerville, Texas; four grandkids Lerrion Jones II, Cornelius Cooks II, La Deja Jones, Aijah Jones; one great grandchild Rayden Baker; one sister Marie Spence (Leonard); three nephews and one niece, Leonard, Jr. (Sharon), Stevie, Greg and Cathy all of Austin; one aunt Vernell Cantrell of Los Angeles, California; and a host of other relatives and friends.
