Mark Alonzo Brewer, Sr.

December 19, 1967 ~ May 13, 2018 (age 50)

Mark Alonzo was born on December 19, 1967 in Austin, Texas to the late Arthur Brewer, Jr and Mrs. Lorraine Ollison Brewer.

Mark accepted Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as his personal savior in the summer of 1991 and was baptised at Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church in Austin, Texas where he has been a member since childhood.  He served as a choir member and teacher of vacation bible school.  He then later joined the fellowship of Saint Mary’s Missionary Baptist Church in Pflugerville, Texas on October of  2002.  He worshipped there with his family and was a faithful member until he was called to be with the Lord.   Mark served on various ministries at Saint Mary’s including Brotherhood, College Career with the Youth Department,  Vacation Bible School, and Cultural Heritage.

Mark had a unique quest for knowledge and teaching.   He began his education in the Austin Independent School District attending Winn and Maplewood Elementary Schools, Pearce Middle School, and the dynamic LBJ High School where he graduated in 1986.  At LBJ he served as the team manager for football and track & field.  Mark later went on to receive his associates degree in business at the former Austin Business School and then he received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the historic Huston-Tillotson College (now Huston-Tillotson University) in 1991.  Mark was not just a regular student but also an active contributor and leader on campus during his time there. 

During his time at Huston-Tillotson, he was initiated into the Kappa Alpha Psi, Fraternity, Incorporated during the Fall of 1988 in the Gamma Lambda Chapter where he led the undergraduate chapter as its Polemarch and went on to become a lifetime member at the national and province levels.  He served as a national undergraduate officer as Grand Strategus (1989-90) and as the Polemarch (2008-2010) of the Austin Alumni Chapter of the fraternity.  During his tenure with the fraternity, he was always of service, received the Grand Polemarch  Award and the William L. Crump History Award.  Mark consistently espoused leadership, service, and achievement to those he mentored at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.  He strongly believed in achievement and leading by example. 

Mark was joined in Holy Matrimony with the love of his life Cynthia Anita Davis on May 13, 1995;  He and Cynthia celebrated twenty-three blessed years of marriage.  Through their union they were blessed with five beautiful children; Tamisha, Mark Jr., Monica, and Micaiyah.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents; Arthur Brewer, Jr. and Lorraine Ollison Brewer, brother Michael, and mother-in-law Mary Virginia Davis.  Mark was called to be with His Holy Father on May 13, 2018.  He was a loving husband and devoted father.

He leaves to mourn his passing; a loving wife and soulmate of 23 years: Cynthia Brewer of Vidalia, GA,  his five children; Tamisha Brewer, Mark Brewer, Jr., Monica Brewer, Marissa Brewer, and Micaiyah Brewer all of Pflugerville, Texas; one granddaughter Allyson Samaria Crain of Pflugerville; one sister; Theresa Lorraine Brewer of Austin, Texas; one brother Jay Brewer; one brother-law Mariaz (Ruby) Davis of Bear, Delaware; sister-in-law Clarissa Davis of  Roswell, Georgia, father-in-law Charles R. Davis of Macon, Georgia; Nieces; Kamiyah and Kiara Davis of Bear,Delaware, Jaylyna and Tiersten Watkins of Roswell, Georgia,  one nephew Charles Davis, Jr of Bear, Delaware and a host of other loving family members and friends.
