L. D. Terrell, Sr. passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, June 7, 2019. L. D. was born to the proud parents Billy and Henrietta Terrell on April 19, 1921 in Allenfarm, Texas. They preceded him in death.
L. D. attended the public school of Allenfarm, Texas. He later moved to Austin, Texas in 1946 and united into Holy Matrimony to Alice Butler, June 12, 1946. To this union six children were born.
He. was employed with the State of Texas Capital building as grounds keeper and maintenance worker for which he retired in 1982.
He became a member of Peaceful St. James Baptist Church and later moved his membership to Olivet Baptist Church.
Mr. Terrell later married Mabel Carter in 1996 who also preceded him in death.
L. D. was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Butler Terrell; sons James Wesley Terrell and Lonnie David Terrell, Jr. and grandson Michael A. Brown; sisters Annie Mae Clark, Emma Nixon, Irene Lewis; brothers George, Willie, Sam. R.A. Wesley and LeRoy Terrell.
He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Mrs. Ada Terrell Blackwell (Lawrence), Ms. Dorothy Terrell Williams and Mrs. Alice Faye Terrell Crenshaw (Robert); one son Ralph Terrell; eight grandkids, Christopher Freeman, Sr. (Roberta), Pamela Oakmon (Zach), Alicia Sirles, Nicole Bullard, Kareem Herring (Catina), John Williams, Jamaal Herring, Sr. and Adrian Brown; twenty-five great grandkids and eight great great grandkids; sister-in-law Mrs. Christine Terrell and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
