Karla was educated in the public schools of Austin, graduating from L.C. Anderson High School in 1965. That same year she entered Tennessee State University earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology in 1969. She also pursued graduate studies toward a Master's degree at Tennessee State University.
Karla's professional career began with the city of Houston. She later joined the work force of the Houston Independent School District. Upon returning to Austin, Karla's employment led her to the Internal Revenue Service and lastly Girling Home Health Care Services.
Karla was known for her kind heart. She blessed many without seeking recognition or accepting returned favors. She gave to others freely. Her love, warm spirit, and caring nature was the motivation to give. Her thoughts and deeds were always about others and few about herself. She was a daughter, niece, cousin, and friend, sensitive to the needs of her parents, family, and others, while devoted to their care. Karla loved family, loved to travel and seldom missed an occasion to celebrate with family on special occasions and gatherings.
Karla is loved by family and friends, and her love and thoughtfulness will always be remembered. She leaves to celebrate her life, her loving and devoted sister Oralyn Lott Bevineau; niece, Jai Lynne Bevineau Prince and husband James Prince; grand nieces, Kennedy Prince and Victoria Prince; grand nephew, Nicholas Prince, all of Sugar Land, Texas; aunt, Carrie Allen; god daughter, Tanya Cleveland; a treasured friend, Betty Grant of Austin, Texas and numerous cousins and friends.
