JoAnn was born to Leonard and Mary Lee Brown in San Mateo, California. She was the second youngest of six siblings. She was raised by John A. and Anna B. Jones in San Diego, California, where she gave her life to Christ at an early age. JoAnn maintained a close relationship with Christ and often shared and encouraged prayer with anyone that had a need. She attended school in San Diego School district and graduated from Lincoln High School. She also completed coursework at San Diego City College.
From two unions of love, she gave birth to three daughters. JoAnn relocated her family to Austin, Texas in 1983, where she raised and nurtured not only her daughters but a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was lovingly referred to as Aunt JoAnn, Aunty JoJo and JoJo Dancer. She was a beautiful soul that was compassionate and giving to family and friends whom she held dear to her heart.
JoAnn retired as a Purchaser III CTP with the State of Texas in 2018 after a fulfilling professional career with several local corporations. Her co-workers admired her for her work ethic, professionalism and close friendships outside of the workplace.
JoAnn was a ray of light in this world. She always had a smile on her face that brought smiles to the faces of all that crossed her path. She was encouraging, a positive role model, a trusted confidant and she always put others before herself. Her door and heart were always open to anyone that needed help. She was such a big giver, not only to her immediate family but to extended family, friends and neighbors alike. She will truly be missed but her impact on all the lives she touched will remain intact forever.
