Cardell (Lewis) Walker

November 28, 1939 ~ January 29, 2018 (age 78)

Cardell L. Walker was born to Carl Lewis Sr. and Millie Shepard Lewis on November 28, 1939 in Giddings, Texas. She lived in Giddings, Brenham and Burton Texas, before settling in Austin Texas. She came to know Christ at an early age.

She attended high school at George Washington Carver High School where she graduated. She joined Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in the 1970's as an adult, and served faithfully as a member on the usher board, Mission I and II until her health failed. She was once a member of the Eastern Star Lady Madison Chapter, were she served as the treasurer.

She worked at the University of Texas in the early-mid 60's in the kitchen at Kinsolving Dormority, after several years at the University. She also worked for Clean Sweep Janitorial Company, in the 70's for several years. She later returned to the University of Texas in 1983 until her retirement in 2003.

In 1964 she met her Boaz for life Artis Earl Walker and they were United in Holy Matrimony October 4, 1964. From this union two children were born, Brenda Walker-Francis and Lester Eugene Walker and loved into the family as her own daughter Debra Ann Yett.

In addition to her family, some of her greatest joy came from helping others, sewing making clothes, upholstery furniture, painting, decorating and the list goes on. She also liked spending time reading her bible and praying daily, watching all her television preachers. She had a special bond with those she contacts with, everyone loved her smile, her personality and you cannot name them all and a caring spirit, would go out of the way to help others when they needed.

Cardell is preceded in death by her parents and husband. She leaves to cherish her precious memory her children Brenda Francis (Dodd), Lester (Beverly), Debra (Ralph); Aunt Lena Wayne (Compton California), host of grand-children, great-grandchildren, her sister in Christ Sis. Mildred Wade, and host of relatives, and friends.
